Last weekend, our entire family (basically translating to my mother’s entire family) went up to Tagaytay to have an ocular for a vacation house we’re going to use for the first weekend that Kion the baby cousin arrives here in Manila. It seems like we’re going to places with colder climate for the last 2 weekends of March to accommodate Kion–he turns beet red in the Manila heat–so our aunts sought places we can go to.
Anyway, after the ocular thing, we went to this place named Bag of Beans. Simply put, it’s this restaurant that can only be found in Tagaytay that serves good food in a beautiful setting. Beautiful is actually an understatement, and I kid you not. First of all, the place is basically open-air in all areas, so you’ve got breeze action on; no need for an air-con. Next, every last detail was well-thought of–every table setting, though there were many tables to go around–had an intimate feel to them. It’s like being your own world of sorts.
And of course, the food. If ever you’ve been to other blogs and they told you the food was good, they don’t lie. Everything is as good as it sounds. Mmm.
Another thing that should not be missed in Bag of Beans is the bakeshop. Over at the branch we went to, the bakeshop was upstairs. The place was teeny tiny–or maybe it was simply teeny tiny because people were flocking and taking everything they could. (Oh yes, we ran out of their awesome raisin loaves. What a heartbreak.) You ought to try buying their raisin loaf. The short ones are Php130 (as of this writing, of course), and it tastes hella different from the ones from–say, Gardenia (no offense, I like Gardenia products, as well). Sometimes, food tastes good when they actually take time to make, and are not simply mass produced.
When we got to Bag of Beans, the place was basically packed with people, so we were seated in here. No fans, of course.
…and then there’s Vegetarian Fettuccine, the thing my palate’s been craving for at that time. Pure vegetables, with the all-natural tomatoes. This wins. :)
Bag of Beans, like what I said, is at Tagaytay. If you wish to go up there to drop by or try to see the menu, click here.
